24V RGB LED strips are widely used in commercial lighting, signage, retail displays, hospitality projects and decorative linear lighting. Compared with 12V RGB strips, 24V designs can be easier to manage for longer runs because they reduce current and help control voltage drop.
Why Many Projects Choose 24V RGB LED Strip
RGB LED strips allow the customer to create color-changing effects from red, green and blue LEDs. In commercial projects, the strip often needs to work with controllers, amplifiers, DMX systems or smart lighting control. A 24V system gives the installer more flexibility than 12V for medium and long-distance layouts.
- Lower current than 12V for the same power level
- Better choice for longer project runs
- Suitable for signage, interior decoration and indirect lighting
- Compatible with many RGB controllers and amplifiers
RGB, RGBW or COB RGB?
Before buying, it is important to confirm the LED strip type. Standard SMD RGB strips are common and cost-effective. RGBW strips add a white LED channel for better white light output. COB RGB strips provide a more dot-free lighting effect, which is useful when the strip is visible or installed close to reflective surfaces.
For architectural lighting or high-end display projects, customers often compare SMD RGB, RGBW and COB RGB samples before final selection.
Power and Controller Planning
RGB LED strips should not be selected by strip specification alone. The complete system includes strip, controller, power supply, cable and installation layout. If the cable is too small or the power injection is not planned correctly, the strip may show uneven colors or reduced brightness at the far end.
- Calculate total wattage based on actual length.
- Choose a power supply with suitable safety margin.
- Check controller and amplifier capacity per channel.
- Plan power injection points for long runs.
- Use suitable cable size for the current and installation distance.
IP20 or Waterproof RGB LED Strip?
IP20 RGB LED strips are suitable for dry indoor locations. For outdoor signs, wet areas or exposed installations, silicone coating, silicone tube or silicone neon flex should be considered. Waterproof protection may change the appearance and heat dissipation, so it should be confirmed early in the project.
